Not a bad thing, for sure, although someone else will undoubtedly step in to take his place, and besides that, others like Gaddafi are just as dangerous as Osama ever was.

He's dead. I saw Obama's speech live last night, and it's in my local paper.

Strangely I don't feel one way or the other about it. I'm certainly not sad to see the guy go, but I'm not exactly firing guns in the air about it either.

I'll put it bluntly. One one hand, good riddance. He was an evil man. On the other hand, STOP MAKING FESTIVALS. AN EVIL MAN WAS KILLED. HE SLAUGHTERED INNOCENT PEOPLE. STOP MAKING LIGHT OF IT. (Not directed at anyone in this thread.)

I think it's because Osama was merely the spiritual leader behind al-Qaeda. Killing the figurehead will hurt the violent jihadist movement, but he's got replacements waiting in the wings, and besides that, he still wasn't the one personally shooting and blowing up people. This isn't going to make all the trouble in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, and elsewhere go away overnight, unfortunately.
