one thing Ive been seeing on eBay, and ive fallen for this TWICE, is some hong kong sellers are successfully bypassing the option to filter searches to US ONLY by placing a false item location.
in other words, despite efforts to buy somthing from the US, you may still end up with somthing out of hong kong,
and have to wait weeks for it to arrive.
I find this more with electronic devices and adapters, and the frequency tends to increase by the month.
so, not only do you have to wait weeks in this case, there is also a chance it may not work in your region,
wouldn't that suck?
One thing for example that i search for commonly, is an HDD enclosure. normally as a means of recycling junk comps,
now for this, i have no problems ordering from hong kong, but i do like to think they should at least tell the truth about its location.
i know for a fact its affected by this scam, so, Ive started a search with the US ONLY option ticked.

go ahead, poke around, there is a bright pink one in there that is affected by this scam.

Now, this is one of the more obvious ones here, but ive seen harder to spot, were it actually points to a US state and city.
you can find out were the sellers actual location is by clicking their user name.
underneath their avatar.

This is info my mom pointed out to me, after i fell for the scam the 2nd time,
so, knowing this, i now know to avoid that item, (unless im okay with ordering from hong kong) and continue searching.
