If folks will excuse me being a slight bit on the un-fun side,
as a technicality, this concept is actually more feasible than what meets the eye. In fact, this could indeed be made to work, and indeed with no soldering either. A Sega Genesis. (For accuracy, a model 1) A gameboy advance (For accuracy: SP) A Video tuner for the GBA (Yes, they actually make these) A bunch of batteries (Because the video tuner requires its own) A universal battery pack (To power the Genesis) A Genesis controller Some better speakers, because the one on the GBA video tuner sucks. As it lays out, this would also be entirely reversible, since we are doing nothing more than connecting inputs and outputs and utilizing a battery pack. What I would do, is make an enclosure for the Genesis, and a mount for the GBA, and just set it up so that the switches are accessible with the enclosure shut. I might go as far as to modify the controller so that the buttons can be operated from the sides of the enclosure, so that the system could still be played. |

given that this would be a mod of a model 1 genesis, wouldn't it be possible to use the audio output jack on the console in lieu of the tv tuner's speakers? that way, you could use earphones on it

That was actually what I was thinking of, to be honest.
Just with a portable stereo amplifier instead of headphones. And leave the jacks accessible so that headphones could still be used. Just my own personal preference. |

Just dropping by to inform you that I was entirely fooled - I thought you two were the other yous.
Also, it's pretty neat that a video tuner actually exists for the GBA. |
