Ive been seeing some people here uploading .exe files that have not been zipped lately,
were this might not hurt anything, their is 1 thing you should know.
whenever i download a non zipped exe, I get this thrown at me.



this is a red flag from avast,
if avast is doing this, other antiviruses may do it as well,
this can seriously hurt your chances at more people playing your games,
and may result in people reporting that the file has a virus, when it in fact does not.

all you need to do to avoid this getting thrown at people is to compress it in to a .zip archive.

Doesn't happen to me, so I don't see what's theproblem. And BTW, I compress my files into .rar folders.

I always zip up any executables I release, but this is a useful note.

Pretty silly if antivirus programs are just flagging every exe they don't recognize. I can understand that this might be the easy way to deal with new viruses and whatnot, but if you can just zip files up to get around that it doesn't seem very effective regardless. Besides, if you're paying for the antivirus, I think you should at least get something better than just a program that flags everything it doesn't recognize...

if you are paying for your antivirus at all...then you are wasting your money.

of course i'm not going to pay for an antivirus program, haha. Microsoft Security Essentials fits my needs rather well and I don't run Windows enough for it to matter anyway

I haven't updated my antivirus software - a free trial I never registered - since I got this computer, and I have never had a problem with any form of malware. Do I recommend this strategy? No way. But if you avoid fishy e-mail attachments, weird torrents, sexually explicit content, and inferior browsers, you're unlikely to run into problems.

And just for the record, no, it doesnt indiscriminately flag all EXE's as viruses,

this is a recent thing its been doing only in downloading, and the downloads can be completed.

this is only a minor thing, for all this thing does.
