I see you're putting the pipe jets to good use! I assume the background is a placeholder.

I hope that I can design that gimmick in mind properly... And no, its not a placeholder, though I may have a spriter make some "touch-ups".

Anyone keen on the idea of World 2 being part overworld, part underground?

Sure, why not. I wouldn't mind seeing some more underground levels in this game.

Just IDK what gimmick should I feature...

Some level ideas I have at this time.

Field of Dead Trees: A desert level that features a WIP background I showed on CatezeeY's Chatting Copypasta. Apologies if I don't have it with me at this time, as I'm typing this via phone. I wish I have a Surface tablet...

Slide Down the Slippery Slope: World 4-2, where the highlight is sliding down a mountain slope.

Twlight Chamber: A catacombs level that features alternate dimensions of the same level.

Cave of the d***ed: Toad sacrifical site. A bloody, haunted cave.

Vault of the Ancients: A worlld 3 pyramid level with a bunch of locks. Exploration is necessary.

Muncher Swamp: A fetid swamp home to hostileplant growth.

The Mole Within: Another deceptive level with foreground, but moles are present this time. Small Mario state required.

Any suggestions on execution and expanding these ideas?

The Twilight Chamber and Muncher Swamp ideas sound really cool. I'm not a big fan of levels where you're forced to get hit, though.

Depends on how they are utilized.


Some more ideas:

Tower of Heaven: Remember that indie game by Akisoft, same rules apply.
Floating Island: World 5's "Summit". Sky gets pink there.
Abandoned House: A dark, old house devoid of enemies but will require to "item babysit."
Aquaferious Swim: A dark swim in World 7's underground reservoir.
