Eternal mall (Post) Yeah, Regency Square Mall finally closed its doors a week ago! I went there at least once every year of my life, except for last year (since I usually go around Christmas and I still wasn't feeling 100% then). It was a fun place to go back when it was fully-occupied and well-maintained.

Malls are still fun - especially when it's really hot or rainy outside.

People often blame Amazon and e-commerce for killing off indoor shopping malls. Occasionally the blame goes to youthful mischief and crime instead. While those things haven't helped malls, I think the main thing that killed them off is the horrid business decisions made by many of their owners.
hi (Post) Be careful up there, though... Rotary Lifts and Fire Chomps are extra-dangerous after partaking of a particularly "Super" Leaf!
Talk to Transformer (Post) Yeah, I'm not surprised that this thing isn't around in 2025.

I feel like this is one of the best usages for generative AI - generating wacky stories isn't going to help people sow misinformation or cheat their way through school!

Here are a few others I did back in 2019:

Talk to Transformer Talks About Bibby Games

Cheerwine Deluxe 3 is a one-of-a-kind gameplay experience. Experience the wonder of the sparkling wine, learn how to make it, and taste this rare and unique blend. This amazing game is available on iOS and Windows devices. It's been named Wine Club 2013 Game of the Year by the Wine Club, and Game Developers Choice 2013 Video Game of the Year by the industry's leading video game and entertainment publications.

Talk to Transformer: Secrets of the Goblins

Goblin's body turned into a cloud of dirt and dirt dust. Goblins are immune to magic, and even though the person's magical power is not enough to kill them, it can cause extreme pain, leaving a mark.

"But you're very kind and generous towards people."

"There is no reason for me to not give you money when it comes to you, I'm just afraid you're also a noble."

Goblins have very short lifespan and need a lot of food to maintain their body, but the humans have many food-based and medicinal resources. Goblin society is very egalitarian. To make money, Goblins use a variety of illegal business methods.

"Oh? Is it possible that you have used that to your advantage too?"

"No, I just thought that I could make quite a bit of money by working under the name of Lulu."

The first time we met, I heard Goblin saying a Goblin would never give up and to protect the world. I don't think there are many in society that do that. It's more like a mercenary, and it's something that you can only do if you get paid enough. And the Goblin is a mercenary, after all.

Talk to Transformer: Tales of the Soviet Ninjas

Prompt: There was only one way Gorbachev could preserve what was left of his power. Ninjas.

They were all out on the streets of Moscow, not having any reason to be in the military because of the political and social turmoil of 1990. Not even the Russians felt threatened by the Soviet Union during Gorbachev's first term.

They had enough reasons to do otherwise. The Russians, after all, had the world's top military, including the U.S.S.R.'s aircraft carriers, and the world's biggest, according to a recent report on the world's fifth-largest economy from the American Institute for Peace. Gorbachev saw that if he didn't eliminate the Soviet Union's military advantage before his second term, the American people would vote for Democratic President George Bush to be his successor in 2000 and then turn to the Republicans in 2004.

To that end, Gorbachev decided a new approach would be required. He made the Soviet Union into the world's leading peacemaker. He abolished the communist dictatorship, instituted economic and political reforms—for the first time in nearly half a century. At the same time he launched the U.S.-led nuclear effort that would kill thousands or millions. Gorbachev began to look more and more like his predecessor, Mikhail Gorbachev.

Interestingly, Talk to Transformer seemed to think that both George H.W. Bush and Abraham Lincoln were Democrats.
Flea markets (Post) People spend a lot of money to get fleas off their pets... why would you pay money to buy some fleas and bring them home?

Actually, I've never been to a flea market before, but I know we have some here. Could be a fun way to get old games and CDs without having to pay for shipping - on eBay, shipping for old games is sometimes as expensive as the item itself.
What are you listening to? (Post) "Jessica" from the Allman Brothers Band. Even many years after its original release, it seemed to get played a LOT where I live. (It's a good song from a Jax band.)

Experts have it easy: An essay (Post) Read it here

An interesting blog post that WTL/Mario recently shared.

I found it to be a worthwhile read - it does a good job of articulating why expert guidance is valuable, and also how experts sometimes fall short in providing guidance to beginners.

I might quote this article at some random point in the future.
soda (Post) The 2007 Super Bowl was fun... especially if you're a Colts fan! It probably had the coolest halftime show of any Super Bowl.

And yeah, I think all our old Super Bowl tapes are on DVD now. We got a VCR/DVD recorder thingy a couple of decades ago, and we used it to digitize a lot of old VHS tapes.

I highly recommend digitizing any VHS tapes that are special or hard to replace - VHS tapes don't necessarily last for all time. There's some businesses that provide this service in my area, though in my town you can even do that at our main library.
the recursive NES (Post) Someone sure spent a lot of time and headache trying to patch up a broken bootleg Famicom!

But yeah, that was a fun video. It's cool to see him take everything apart and then fix it all up. I also learned a bit more about how old game systems transmit video signals.

I am glad that the Good Boy is back to being a very good boy again.
soda (Post)
We used to videotape every year's Super Bowl, and I remember that commercial was on one of those tapes. I'm pretty sure it was near the beginning of the oldest Big Game we have on tape. (I was only very slightly older than the baby back then.)
